How much does it cost?
Ditt första samtal med oss är alltid kostnadsfritt. Vi debiterar dig först när vi har åtagit oss ett uppdrag att biträda dig. I samband med att vi åtar oss uppdraget kommer vi överens om en arvodesnivå och principerna för debitering. Är någon advokat eller jurist hos oss förordnad som ditt målsägandebiträde, offentliga biträde, rättegångsbiträde eller din offentliga försvarare behöver du aldrig betala oss något för det arbetet. I många fall kan du har rätt till rättshjälp eller använda rättsskyddet i din hemförsäkring.
Legal protection
Many people, both individuals and businesses, have legal expenses insurance built into their home or business insurance. Legal expenses insurance covers part of the cost of legal assistance, less a deductible which is usually 20-25% of the total cost. The amount of the excess varies between different insurance companies.
Not all disputes are covered by insurance companies’ legal expenses insurance. Examples of disputes that are normally covered by legal expenses insurance are custody, housing and access disputes, but also other disputes such as damages and claims.
In custody or other child-related disputes where the parties have recently cohabited, insurance companies may grant legal expenses cover provided that the dispute has arisen no earlier than one year after the separation or divorce.
Another common condition for claiming legal protection under home insurance is that the policyholder must have had home insurance for at least two consecutive years. You do not need to have had the insurance with the same insurance company, but you do need to be able to show that you have been insured continuously for two years.
Other types of insurance besides home insurance may also include legal expenses cover, e.g. trade union insurance and business insurance.

Legal aid
If you don’t have home insurance or if legal expenses cover is not available, you can often apply for state legal aid to a court or to the legal aid authority. Legal aid means that the State helps you to pay part of the costs of your legal representation. When a decision is made on your application for legal aid, a decision will be made at the same time on how much of the costs you will have to pay. The percentage you have to pay is determined by your financial circumstances and varies between 2% and 40%. If your annual income does not exceed SEK 260 000, you may be entitled to legal aid.
